Children wandering from play area

Problem: Children may wander into the street or other dangerous areas and be hit by a car, drown, or be seriously injured

  • If the children’s play area is within 60 meters (200 feet) of a dangerous area, install a fence around it. Dangerous areas include:
    • streets
    • water (lake, river, pond, stream, well)
    • vacant lot with trash
  • Always stay outside to closely supervise young children when they are playing.
  • Ignore phone calls when you’re outside; get an answering machine and carry a mobile phone for outdoor time – but limit calls to quick responses so you are not distracted from supervising the children.  A mobile phone enables you to call for help if you need it.
